Throw Away the Key
"I know what I did is wrong and it will never happen again," he said. "I messed around with a little girl and I shouldn't have done it. I only did it once a week on Thursdays when I was baby-sitting.

This quote is from a violent sexual predator who sexually assaulted a little girl for years. He served 5 months out of only a 23 month sentence and he's ticked off that new laws will require longer sentences and more strict supervision once predators are let out of prison.
Boo freaking hoo.
For the original article about what he did and his sentence, go here. She was five years old when it started and he claims she initiated. He says he's reformed. "But it wasn't every Thursday" shows me he's not. He's still minimizing what he, a 70-some year old man, did to a little girl. Here's his page on the PA Megan's Law website.
Then, as I'm doing a little research on his name and trying to find his Megan's Law page, I find this. This guy's in Florida, same name with a Jr. tacked onto the end and another assault against a minor. Is this just a strange coincidence or what?
This is exactly why violent sexual predators, especially those who assault children should be locked up forever. Throw away the keys.
And is it just me, or is a 5-month prison sentence for sexual assualting a child just a little light?

Things You Could Care Less About
The part that concerns me is sexual predators re-offend. If there was a way to keep that from happening I would say to treat this class of felons as any other class but since that is not the case – yes throw away the key.
Our children should be protected by society from repeat offenders.
There are so many cases where sexual predators re-offend and each time seems even worse than the time before. Jaycee Dugards captor had served time for a violent rape. The man who killed Jessica Lunsford was also an offender. The long and terrible list goes on. I just dont believe rehabilitation is possible.
The phrase I’ve heard some specialists in the treatment of sexual offenders use is “what turns you on, turns you on” – in other words, there is nothing they can do to make a pedophile not turned on by children. While simply having the attraction doesn’t mean one is bound to offend, the people who have the moral compass and self-control to not follow their predelictions are not likely to offend in the first place. Developing such self-control after an offense (particularly bearing in mind that by the time a pedophile is caught and convicted, he’s probably been preying on children for a while) is a vanishingly rare phenomenon.
Which is a convoluted way to say: I agree thoroughly.
Certain types of sexual offenses are always going to be repeated and the offenders have an actual sickness. Lifetime incarceration or chemical castration seems to be the only way to prevent them from continuing to do it.
