Or Not
Maybe this whole "happened for a reason" stuff is just a nice little saying that helped get me through a weekend that was supposed to have been different.
The sellers have counter-offered. We’re not at all liking the counter or the way they went about doing it. We very well may lose this house.
Tomorrow, the sign goes up in my yard. The rooms have been measured, the pictures have been taken and I don’t even know if I’ll have a place to live.
I’m trying to be positive about it all, but I seriously don’t know how much more disappointment one gal can take.
Oh well, at least my house is sparkling clean. . . for now.
When we bought our modest l’il bungalow, I think we must’ve offered and been counter-offered at least four times before we came to an agreement.
It’s all just part of the process.
BBM,
While I know you are in love with the house, if this one falls through there will be others.
Keep in mind that if it is how they countered that is the biggest deal, you won’t have to deal with them after the closing (I speak from experience as I would have gladly throttled the previous owners of our house during the negotiation stage).
I remember the days of looking and selling at the same time and I will keep good thoughts for you.
I’ve got plenty of space here…
This is why I hate moving….
God, I hate the whole house-hunting/moving thing. Got my fingers crossed for you.
Keep good thoughts going.. in the end everything will be alright, if it’s not good yet, it’s not the end. Keep going.
ugh on counter offers! here’s to hoping it all works out the way you dream. thinking good thoughts!
My house (in NC) officially gets entered into the MLS system on March 1st and it’s just not ready. My living room currently looks like the cardboard box fairy threw up.
We are heading to Atlanta on March 14th to start looking at houses.
We need to be out of here by the end of June.
I’m so afraid that my house wont sell.
The whole process is just so overwhelming….Ugh
We had a similar experience this weekend. With the baby coming, we have been trying to figure out some kind of vehicle that isn’t a land yacht, but would still give us adequate room for Moose, Minnie and baby peanut. In my adult life, pretty much the only cars I’ve ever driven are air-cooled VWs (mostly bugs with a Karmann mixed in) and Coopers. I like small cars.
We have been looking for weeks and had decided on a Volvo S40. It was pretty good. The ’07 Volvos were on clearance at the dealer. We had made a deal, and then they lowballed me on my trade-in, by about $6k. I thought about countering but decided to just thank him for his time. As far as I was concerned, we were finished.
It DID happen for a reason, though. We ended up driving by the Mazda dealership and discovered a great little car I’d never heard of before: the Mazda 5. It’s like a… mini Minivan. Not terrible to look at, drives like a car, and Moose gets his own row in the back. Navigation, leather seats, hands free bluetooth and an ipod jack and Dad has some toys, too. 🙂
It’ll all work out for you! Very stressful times. 🙂
I don’t envy you being in this situation at all. This has happened to us too many times to count so I know how you are feeling, believe me.
You have a very nice blog, good post…keep up the good job
