Promotions

I’ve been a little blog lazy this week.  Rockstar is over now and I can relax on Tuesday and Wednesday nights, sort of.  There’s something about becoming a brown belt that is both satisfying and equally terrifying.  There’s so much to know and so much to prepare.  It’s a little daunting.  Not that I’m not looking forward to it because I am. . . but for tonight, I bring you the promotions for me and Big I.   Tomorrow I’ll write about the sparring that followed promotions. . .

Big I getting her second green stripe (The next belt is YELLOW!  Yeah!).

I_striped

Big I willingly sitting there while getting striped.  I post two pictures of this because this is an amazing thing.  She doesn’t like change and usually protests new belts, new stripes.  Things need to stay the SAME.

Bow

Notice how both of us keep our chins up.  When in this position, you never tuck your chin and look down.  It leaves you open to an attack.  Cool, huh?

Ceremony

Mr. M getting ready to add the black stripe to my new brown belt.  You can’t tell here, but I can hardly contain my excitement.  Doesn’t he look wicked cool in that black gi?  (And I am totally not just saying that because I want him to demonstrate self defense techniques on someone else in class, although that would be nice.)

The karate gals with our new belts.  Big I looks so happy, right?  Notice the attitude.  Warning to all parents whose children have yet to start school.  Five year olds are not pleasant beings when getting acclimated to a new routine.  We’ll just pretend that’s her karate warrior look.  Mommy, however, is EXTREMELY happy with her new belt.  So much for the warrior look.  Let’s PARTY!  I felt like dancing or something.  Oh yeah!

And here’s me with both of my karate gals.  While Big I was getting striped, Lil C made herself comfortable out on the dojo floor by walking out like a little Frankenstein and sitting on my lap.

Notice the ‘tude in this picture as well.  Big I is really not going to like it when I make her get gi’d up this weekend for a redo.

I just have to say it.  Do I look good in brown or WHAT?  (Don’t say what.  Imagine what my mean warrior face would look like if you even think about saying otherwise.)
