Making Life Better

The title of this post alone should be your "narrative hook" (sorry, geeky English teacher here…).  We all strive in this tough economy to make the most of what we have and stretch our resources.  Along the way, we don't want to scrimp on the health and well being of our families.  Dinner is a constant struggle to do this…Mom Central showed me a website that is quickly becoming a new favorite place for me when I do my meal planning.

Making Life Better features great recipes and cooking tips.  I'm planning on putting the Grilled Chicken with Peaches meal (at only 320 calories!!) on my meal plan for next week.  There is a quick search where you can quickly search by different criteria, making it easy to find what you need. They even have their own YouTube channel where you can find Cooking Coach videos to learn new tips and ideas.

I like that this website focuses on making dinner fast and easy and affordable.  There is an entire section on Budget meals…I like that!  You can sign up for a newsletter, enter a monthly sweepstakes, and more!  Check out this helpful website and start gaining some sanity into your life at mealtime!

Johnsons No More Tears 50th Anniversary

As I sit to write this post, my son is currently taking a bubble bath.  He is, of course, using the new JOHNSON'S® Baby Bubble Bath & Wash.  That's because I only use Johnson's products for him.  Over the past four plus years, I have been given other bath products, but I can't use them.  I'm sure they are quality products, but for me, Johnson's is the bath time product of choice.  I like the smell of baby after a bath using Johnson's products.  Forever will I think of my son's first bath in his little newborn tub when I smell Johnson's products.  I can remember the frightened look in his eyes when I placed him  in there and how suddenly he seemed to relax as I poured the warm water over him.  Memories like these are what make us go back to the products we love.

Johnson's is currently celebrating their 50th Anniversary with two new products…the JOHNSON'S® HEAD-TO-TOE® Foaming Wash and JOHNSON'S® Baby Bubble Bath & Wash.  My son is loving the bubble bath-we've never used bubble bath before and he's having a blast playing in them.  (Now, if we could only get the bathing done and get the clean boy in bed…)  The Foaming Wash is so easy to use…it comes out easily and it's helping our son to wash himself.  (Yay!!) If you'd like more info on Johnson's, check this out.

Johnson's No More Tears seems to be a family tradition.  Thanks, MomCentral, for allowing to post my thoughts on this anniversary and to Johnson's for being a part of my life for…well, let's just say a long time.

Electrolux Virtual Cupcake Campaign for OCRF

I desperately want any of the appliances that Electrolux makes…and their new Red Hot Red washer and dryer has certainly gotten my attention.  Electrolux makes high quality appliances, but what makes them an even more attractive company is the charitable work they do.

Right now through the end of February, Electrolux, teaming up with Kelly Ripa, is holding the Virtual Cupcake Campaign for the Ovarian Cancer Research Fund.  By logging on to Kelly Confidential, you can send a virtual cupcake to a friend and Electroluxwill donate $1 to OCRF.  Just think, you can brighten a friend's day AND do charitable work in one click of the mouse!  For a little more motivation, every time that you send a cupcake, your name gets entered into a drawing for Electrolux's newest front-load washer and dryer.  It's a win/win/win situation!

Kelly Ripa has also designed a "Wear Your Heart on Your Sleeve" t shirt that you can purchase and 100% of the proceeds benefit OCRF.  It's a great gift to get your girlfriends and for yourself.  You can look good and feel good all at the same time.

Thanks,MomCentral, for hooking me up with this great campaign! Go now and send your cupcakes…it's a ton of fun and you're supporting such a great cause!  TKDDaughter gives Electrolux and their Virtual Cupcake Campaign a

Cozi

My husband is an habitual forgetter.  He forgets his wallet.  He forgets to call someone.  He forgets an appointment.  No planner, PDA, or personal assistant can control this.  And while I am realistic about this habitual forgetting, I'm hoping this new find of mine at least curbs some of the forgetting-at least the things that directly affect me.

Cozi.  It's your life, online.  Here you can keep track of every family member's appointment and can access it anywhere you can access the Internet-your house, your office, your phone.  You can create customizable lists (my favorite is the shopping list!!!) and again, can access it from anywhere.  While I haven't done it yet, I imagine this scenario in my head:  Running late from work.  Call the husband and ask him to go to the grocery store.  "I don't know what we need."  "Oh, honey, we have Cozi now.  It's all right there."  Sounds great, doesn't it!

But Coziis even more than that…you can upload pictures and create a family journal.  You can even search for recipes right from Cozi to help create your shopping list.

Another cool aspect…if you sign up to try Cozi between now and February 4th, you will be entered into a drawing to have a professional organizer  spend two days with you organizing either your kitchen or your home office-a retail value of $5,000!!  So head on over to Cozi to start organizing your life simply.

Preserve Kitchen Products

Preserve is the company that recycles old toothbrushes into decks and stuff. We tried the toothbrushes before, and now they've launched the Preserve Kitchenware line in Target stores nationwide.

The complete line features colanders, mixing bowl sets, and small and large cutting boards. They are affordable (prices range from $8.99 for a small cutting board to $21.99 for a set of three mixing bowls) and colorful.

Preserve sent me a large cutting board and I have to say that it is fantastic. One edge of the cutting board is curved upward which is nice for keeping things put on the board as I work. All of the products are made from 100% recycled #5 plastic or 100% post-consumer recycled paper. This is one company that is truly going green and helping families across the country to do the same.

Preserve also accepts #5 plastics for recycling for their products at Whole Foods stores, or if you're a local in NY, you can simply drop them off or mail them. Your used yogurt cup very well may be part of my new cutting board. For additional information about Preserve's Gimme 5 program, go here.

Another great thing about Preserve is that all of their products are BPA-free, dishwasher safe and GET THIS, made in the USA. So, you can be green and support the US economy at the same time.

If you are interested in checking out the Preserve products yourself, head to your local Target. Target carries select items from the kitchen line and the adult toothbrushes. For any other Preserve product, you can buy it directly from their website. The line debuts this month. How cool is that?
