Mamapedia

You've heard it before…"I wish my baby/child/teen came with a handbook/manual!"  My friends and I discuss this often.  Parenthood is something that you cannot learn all about and then do…it's "under construction and development" at all times.  You  make mistakes (lots of them) and try your best.  Sometimes things go well, often they don't.  I found you a lifeline, a phone a friend.

Everyone meet Mamapedia.    Mamapedia, here's some new friends who will be leaning on you.

What a great site this is!  Within seconds of clicking on the site, I was at my age-specific, subject specific page where there were many moms in my predicament.  There were words of support, tactics to try, and nods of understanding.  Moms will find information on child-raising, health, finance, plus lots of things in between.  It is highly organized (which I appreciate so much since time is not abundant right now) so I was able to find what I needed quickly.  When I sat down to write this post, I went to Mamapedia again to refresh myself and found myself reading questions and answers for almost an hour…oops!  There's just so much good info on there!

Moms know best…and moms help other moms the best.  If you wanted a manual for your child, Mamapedia is the place to go!  Thanks, MomCentral, for hooking me up with Mamapedia.

Frosted Flakes Plant a Seed

Many people have a favorite memory of childhood playing a sport…hitting that first baseball, scoring that first point in soccer, intercepting their first football.  Sports are an important part of our culture and an important part in the growth and development of our kids.  Not only do sports provide wonderful childhood memories, they also instill in kids a better sense of self, an awareness of what is healthy for their bodies, and keeps them active instead of passively watching another ridiculous kids' show.

Frosted Flakesrecognizes the importance that sports and their playing fields play in a child's life and since January has been getting the word out about their Earn Your Stripes field renovation program.  Thousands of fields were nominated to be completely renovated and the "playing field" has been narrowed down to just 100 semifinalists.  Between now and May 31st, you can go to Frosted Flakes and vote for your favorite or most deserving community sports field to be renovated.

Check it out…I put in my state and found numerous fields within 20 minutes of our house.  You'll probably find one in your own backyard…help out a deserving community!  TKDDaughter gives the Plant a Seed campaign a:

You're a new mom…you have a new baby…and you want only the best for the baby.  If you are breastfeeding, it's a good idea to invest in a good breast pump whether you are going back to work or not.  I found that sometimes, I just needed a little relief, other times, I wanted to stock up on a milk supply so I could go to out for a few hours without baby.  Having a good breast pump gives you a bit of freedom and a lot of relief!

Evenflo   has launched an improved breast pump which is stylish and functional-The Evenflo Comfort Select Performance Breast Pump.  With an improved cycle time, you get the most milk in the shortest amount of time.  It has two individual pumps with their own motors so that you can set it for each individual side.  And it comes in a stylish lavender color and a discreet black bag.  One of the best parts of it is that it is all BPA free and complies with all safety and health regulations.

Evenflo and MomCentral have paired up to give moms a place to share breast pumping tips.  You can find this page here  and if you share a tip, you will be entered to win one of three Evenflo Comfort Select Performance Breast Pumps!

Better yet, if you leave a comment on the BBM Review for this product with a tip for new moms and feeding, you will also be entered to win the Evenflo Comfort Select Performance Breast Pump and two boxes of nursing pads! Leave a comment by Sunday, May 10th to be a part of the giveaway drawing!

Neosporin

When I first moved out of my parents' house to my first apartment, I did the necessary shopping for "needed items."  You know, things mom always has that you take for granted like medicine, tissues, extra toothpaste, etc.  Included in that list for me was Neosporin.

Neosporin has always been a staple in our medicine cabinet.  Burns, scraped knees, minor cuts-dab a little of Neosporin on and your protecting against infection and keeping scarring at a minimum.  But have you ever stopped to look at the expiration date on your tube of Neosporin?  40% of homes have expired topical antibiotics sitting in their medicine cabinet.  I just checked-I'm one of them.

Let's face it…you use very little each time you apply things like Neosporin.  You would have to have a very clumsy family to use up an entire package!  Neosporin wants to get the word out for you to check your medicine cabinet.  Pitch the expired products and run out and buy some new ones before Spring is in full swing.  My new favorite is the Neosporin To Go!-it's specially designed for easy, one-handed use, resists crushing and goes anywhere with you.  It's already packed in my handbag for trips to the park and the inevitable scraped knee.

Thanks to MomCentral and Johnson's for asking me to talk about this great product!  TKDDaughter gives this a
