AAGL
About a year ago, my sister was diagnosed with uterine fibroids. After having severly heavy periods and lots of cramping, she decided to have surgery to remove the fibroids. The surgery went well, they removed the fibroid, and she was looking forward to a normal periods in the future. But nothing changed. The periods continued as before, heavy and miserable. Upon further "inspection," she was told that she had another fibroid that was larger than the original one. We were concerned…had this grown that large so quickly or had the doctor missed it originally? My sister went back to discus her options with her doctor…my sister is 39 and single. While she acknowledges that her child-bearing years are closer to the end than the beginning, she would like to retain her fertility until it's natural end. Can you guess what the doctor suggested? A hysterectomy!!!
Shortly after this, I received an email from MomCentral about a new review opportunity regarding less invasive procedures to help women with pelvic disorders. Weird, huh? But great timing!
So, I'm having my sister check out AAGL's website. You should, too. You'll learn that OB/GYN's are not presenting you with all the information needed to make an informed decision. Dr. Miller of AAGL says it best, "When women are fully informed about their condition and the available treatments, they feel more confident in exploring their options with their OB/GYNs. This simple step [checking out AAGL's website] could help thousands of women avoid the pain and extended recovery associated with open surgery."
Empowere yourself or someone you know who has a pelvic health disorder…go to AAGL's website and then head to your doctor. You shouldn't have to go through an invasive surgery with a longer recovery when minimally invasive procedures are available.
Generation Huggies
Back in the 1970s, when I was born, my mother had a decision to make-cloth or disposable diapers. While to women today this doesn’t seem to be a big deal, merely having the choice between the two forms of diapers was a big deal back then. Disposable diapers were relatively new, and many women were still opting for the cloth variety.
I am a part of the Huggies Generation and the people at Huggies want to celebrate this…well, not celebrate me, but all women who are now moms. Huggies is celebrating it’s 30th anniversary and to help celebrate, they are doing a bunch of activities. First, Huggies is currently touring American cities, video taping women about what motherhood means to them to possibly be included in their national ad campaign. But you don’t have to wait to see if they come to a city near you-you can submit a video without leaving the comfort of your home! Here’s how you can do that:
Now through November 20, 2008, there are two ways for moms to create a video reflecting on “What Motherhood Means to Me.”

The Perfect Turkey
It’s a right of passage as an adult with a home to "take over" a family holiday. I still am trying to take over just one holiday from the older crowd in the family, but I have made it clear that it will NOT be Thanksgiving. I can do the Easter or Christmas ham, but I cannot do the turkey. No way. No how.
Until maybe now.
You’ve probably seen the recent commercials with Kelly Ripa for the Electrolux appliances. I am a girl who loves her some good appliances (even if I can’t afford them…) and these appliances just look awesome. Kelly Ripa, of course, makes it look fun to do daily housework, but let’s face it, the Thanksgiving Day turkey is intimidating. Well, Electrolux is revolutionizing the turkey experience with their Perfect Turkey button. Its special turkey probe and convection system gives you a yummy, juicy perfect turkey.
Now, I am sure you all have a turkey story from one holiday or another…and Electrolux wants to hear it. Head over to their website to enter their Turkey Tale contest. From now until November 14th, you can submit your turkey day story (whether it be funny, pathetic, or momentous) and you could an Electrolux wall over or range, just in time for the holidays!
And just think, if you win the contest, from that point forward, your turkey story will be a thing of the past.
Ringling Bros Circus
I think we all have a memory of going to the circus as a child. For me, it was seeing kids my age taking rides on the elephant. I so desperately wanted to run down there and ride so high up on the elephant, but shyness and fear kept me from doing so. I loved watching the animals with their trainers and seeing the trapeze artists swinging from the rafters. It was intoxicating and exciting and the memory stays with me today.
Do you want to make the same memory for your child, but do you worry about the expense of it? Well, the Ringling Bros Circus has a great offer for you. Right now, you can purchase tickets at 20% for the shows listed below. You need to use the Coupon Code MCC. Tickets can be purchased right on their website. You just plug in your zip code and the site finds the show closest to you and voila! You’re going to the circus for 20% off. Share this code with family and friends, too, so that everyone can join in the fun!

Noodleboro Learning to Listen Pizza Palace Game
My son has a habit of answering me when he’s not really listening. He somehow hears what I ask, answers one of the options I have provided, then promptly freaks out when I hand him the milk he said he wanted, or the tortilla chips, or the shoes, etc. I kind of thought this behavior wouldn’t start occurring until he was at least an adolescent. Not so.
Hasbro has created series of games set to address the listening issue, as well as other issues that challenge children. Thank you!!!! The Learning to Listen Pizza Palace game is a blast! My son was excited to sort out the pieces and begin playing. The game includes the parts of the game, as well as a book and a CD to enhance play. My son loved the pizza boxes and silly toppings. While he did stray a bit from the directions (instead of placing the pizza order, we had a full-blown delivery service), he followed the concept of listening in order to get the correct pizza toppings on the pizza. I thought it was exciting to see where his imagination went after starting to play the game. And frankly, I didn’t think he was listening to my pizza order, but he was and did a great job baking my pizza and delivering it in 30 minutes or less!
There are two other versions of the games…Learning to Share and Learning About Manners. This game was such a hit in our house, I will definitely be seeking out the Learning about Manners game. Boy do we need help with that! You can actually enter to win one of 200 games that Hasbro is giving away. And if you don’t win it there, you can get this game in stores already.
Add this game to your holiday shopping list! I give this game a:
