The Birth of Cornelius CD

This review features a great giveaway. Continue reading to the end for details!!!

Oh, how I love to find a new musical artist. There is nothing like finding a new voice, new music that soothes you and renews your love of music. Corneille's debut album "The Birth of Cornelius" may be an instant love for some, but for me, it was was a little different. When your favorite song is "Whatever You Like" by T.I., a slowed down more soulful CD takes a bit of getting used to. After listening to the CD twice in my car however, I found myself singing along, and even humming the songs when the music wasn't even playing. Plus sometimes the DVD headphones slide off the kid and under the seat and you just have to switch to DVD mode and give up your musical "me" time. It happens.

With a soulful voice that reminds you of hanging out in a swanky lounge with some good friends and a nice glass of wine, Corneille hits the spot if you're looking for a bit of a retro sound, infused with John Legend-like goodness. When I first listened to the CD, I said that Corneille is the male Sade, but with more up tempo songs. Upon further examination though, I think he has Brian McKnight like qualities, mixed with a strong dose of Seal, and conbined with the soul of Sade and John Legend. He's definitely a throwback artist, but there's nothing old-fashioned or Amy Winehouse about him.

His songs aren't all about love though. Corneille has an interesting story and a traumatic background that has strongly influnenced his music. The only surviving family member to make it out of Rwanda, Corneille's songs are infused with a passion that you just don't hear from other artists. Plus, he's total eye candy. I mean, come on. . .

Corneille1

Already a star throughout the world, Corneille has just recently made his debut in the US market. His album was released March 10th. My personal favorites are "Murder" (which is actually a love song), "Too Much of Everything," and "Home is by You" which I find myself singing all the time now. It's the kind of CD to put on your IPOD and take with you to the jacuzzi tub, or to relax to with a good book or good friends.

If you like any of the above mentioned artists, and/or are a fan of R&B and soul music, then you'll definitely want to check out Corneille.

One lucky reader who leaves a comment will win a free autographed Corneille CD! To be entered to win, simply leave a comment below telling me your favorite artist and why you should win. The lucky winner will be chosen in one week!

If you're not the lucky winner, you can still buy the CD here for a reasonable price from "The BBM Review" store.

Fiber One Bars and a Spa Break Giveaway!

I am not a snack bar kind of person. Granola bars generally make me gag, and as much as I might like to be satisfied by a breakfast or snack bar, it's just not my first choice. Ever.

The Fiber One Chocolate Mocha Chewy bars are making me reconsider though. Let's start with the obvious. If you're looking for a way to add fiber to your diet, then look no further. One of these bars provides 35% of your recommended daily intake of fiber. If you're watching your weight or trying to get in better shape, an increase in fiber is a must. Here is one tasty way to do it.

The Fiber One chewy bars have the consistency of a Rice Krispie treat with the flavor of rich chocolate and just a hint of coffee (mocha) flavor. I ate one (without any gagging), and actually returned for more the next day. Even if you're not the bar eating type of person, you might want to give the Fiber One bars a try. Plus, did you see what's in them? That's right, chocolate.

The only negative about these bars is that they contain the newly-determined-to-be-evil- high fructose corn syrup. That's the only negative I could find. So, if like the popsicle commercials on TV, you're not that worried about corn syrup, then I highly recommend you give these a try.

If you'd like to find out if you're getting enough fiber in your diet, you can check out this handy Fiber-O-Meter here. If you'd like to try the bars for yourself, you can download a coupon for $1.35 off one box here.

In addition, we have a special giveaway to offer you! Three lucky winners will be receiving a "Spa Break" basket in the mail like this one:

Each basket contains a fantastic bath pillow (I've tried mine so I know), chocolate scented soap and lotion, bath salts, and a coffee scented candle. Winners will also receive a coupon to try the Fiber One bars for free. To be entered to win, leave a comment below telling us why you need a spa break. Winners will be chosen and announced in one week! Good luck to you!

Bella Sara Treasures and Miniatures

A couple months ago, we received some Bella Sara trading cards to review. My daughter instantly loved them. Without even logging on to the website, she spent days carrying them around and keeping them out of her sister's evil grasp.

Once we went online, feeding and taking care of her horses was a real hit. The site is well designed, fun, and offers great background music. After time though, she sort of forgot about logging in. Plus, taking care of 15 horses, even virtual ones, was a lot of work.

Recently we received Bella Sara Treasures and Miniatures in the mail. The miniatures are exactly what you think they are, miniature versions of the Bella Sara horses. They only stand about 1.5 inches in height and each miniature comes with a little plastic stand. The miniatures were a big hit with the girls. They are definitely cute; but there are some negatives.

First, the miniatures have a funny kind of smell to them. I couldn't place it exactly but I think it's related to the materials used and maybe the paints? The other negative is that while the girls initially adored them, they are so teeny tiny that neither of my girls have any idea where their horses are right now. I'm sure that when we organize the toy chest, they'll turn up, but if I'm being completely honest, this is one of those things that drive mothers insane. They are tiny and easily become lost. Because of this, I would recommend the miniatures for only serious collectors of the cards and other products.

The Bella Sara Treasures are the eighth line of trading cards. These cards, as with the previous lines, are full of color and pretty things that all girls love. Each card features some type of treasure that the Bella Sara horses love and protect. The Treasures opens up new activities and excitement in the online Bella Sara world. In addition to the fun that can be had by having these cards, Bella Sara is offering some additional excitement for fans.

Currently, Bella Sara is running a contest. The lucky winner will receive their own personal treasure hunt for themself and friends. If you are interested in finding out more about the Bella Sara Miniatures and Treasures line, or if you'd like to win the contest, please visit here for more information. But hurry! The contest ends April 30th.
