Coming Soon
I am getting there with this house. Things are starting to find a place, and I'm gradually working on window treatments throughout the house. Our garage door openers will be installed next week. I can not wait for that! Once I have things together, I plan to do an online "open house" so you can see how it all looks.
So far, my favorite thing about the house is my jacuzzi. I've been in a few in hotels and beach houses, but I've never had my own. This jacuzzi, in particular, is pretty awesome. It has these perfectly placed two little jets right at your feet. I think I'd live in there if I could.
I've found that having big windows means big bills when buying window treatments. It's amazing how fast a couple hundred can go down the tubes when trying to cover up your windows!
Thanks to the nice weather we've been having, our grass is really starting to grow. Our yards looks like it has a nice haze of green over it right now and we're just praying that it gives us a good head start in the spring. Having this great yard, but not being able to go play in it right now is torture.
I've been lousy at posting lately, mostly because I've been falling asleep on the sofa around 9 p.m. each night. I'm exhausted from the move, and exhausted from planning and grading during the last month of the semester at the University where I teach. Exhaustion makes for minimal posting and lackluster content, I know.
Hopefully this will be a very productive weekend, full of picture hanging and getting these girls to sleep past 7 a.m for a change.
I also wanted to send out a belated "thank you" to Avitable, who sent me a really nice housewarming gift. Your wine bottle was the first to go in my wine rack, but it won't be there for long. 😉
I can’t wait till the “Grand Tour” of pics once you get your new house all set up. And I know what you mean about those window treatments. Whew! Who knew they could cost so much?!
The more important question is – have you sent the kids away and christened every room of the house?
We have an estimate done on our 4 windows in our dining room for sheers and curtains. With 50% off, then an additional 10% off (for opening a charge) the final cost was going to be…$7500!!! We said no thank you and I found beautiful navy swags to go over the current lace sheers for $48 total. Granted our windows are the size of doors (and so most window treatments must be special ordered…), but still. $7500?? Ugh…
I read somewhere that window treatments is one of the most significant, but often forgotten expenses people have when they move.
I’ll bet your kids are excited to be in their new HOME! Congrats again.
Looking forward to the virtual “open house”!
You don’t know me and I tend to be a bit of a lurker but I have some advice about the jetted tub. Get yourself to Home Depot and buy jetted tub cleaner stuff (just ask the guy in the tub department). When we moved into our home there was this gorgeous jetted tub, but it spewed black gunk everytime the jets were turned on…apparently from years of not being cleaned properly. This stuff gets circulated through the jets and keeps them sparkling clean (do it every month) and you won’t have the black flaky gunk horror that I was submitted to! I LOVE you house so far…just living vicariously through you…our next home will be built for sure.

I live by the rule that — If you see me naked once, it’s my fault. If you see me naked twice, it’s your fault.
With that in mind I take my time buying curtains. Your neighbors will eventually learn your schedule and make use of their window treatments to honor your privacy.
Can’t wait to see the pics of the new windows!
After my hubby and I celebrated our 10th anniversary and he bought me a gorgeous diamond necklace from http://www.idonowidont.com, I decided to hire a designer to remake his study.
We are also putting in new windows and a big new desk.
Uhhhh…pictures? Are those coming soon? Inquiring minds want to see the new place.
