Elmo-palooza
I didn’t write about karate last week. I wanted to, but I just didn’t have any time to put anything coherent together. First, the gifts started arriving. . .
Then, I was too busy being all "wah, my baby is a year old"; and then came the baking. . . lots and lots of baking. First came the cookies in the shapes of C’s, 1’s, little hands and little feet. . .
Then came the cupcakes, complete with Elmo cupcake papers and Elmo icing decorations.
Then came the baby block cake that took 5.5 hours to complete from start to finish. It was four layers and took all kinds of patience and tools like a cake leveler (which is THE coolest baking invention EVER), and food coloring and Smoothie Skittles (which I don’t recommend eating although they are great for decorating).
The cake was a huge success as evidenced by the cake buzz. . .
As if the baking wasn’t enough, there was also decorating, and other food preparation. . .
But all that really matters is that the party was a huge hit with Lil C. She loved the balloons. . .
She loved all her gifts, including her clothes (that’s my girl!). . .
She also loved her new car. Our living room is now a drive-in for watching Elmo’s World. . .
And playing with Big I has never been so much fun. . .
The party was indeed a huge hit with Lil C. . .
This post has been brought to you by the monster(s) who have taken over my home. . .
Wooohooo Lil C!
Nice haul!!!
And happy, happy, happy first birthday 🙂
Love the cake! It’s so even! If I made it I know it would have turned out lopsided. What’s a cake leveler? Sounds interesting. Sounds like you guys had a wonderful birthday party!
Excellent! Looks like Lil C had a fantastic time!
I’m also interested in what the heck a cake leveller is!
Yay! How fun is that?!?!!
I confess, I still like Maya’s “Best of Elmo” video. Sigh. Elmo is very cute. And boy, Maya LOVED him.
Love lil C’s clothes…what a cutie!
Seems like a great time was had. Now you can relax. 😉
Wow, that’s a truckload of Elmo.
Elmo-palooza….I love it! That baby block cake was really professional looking.
For those who have inquired, I added a link to a picture of a cake leveler. It’s a little stand that has a wire. You sort of saw through the uneven portion of the cake, leaving you with a level layer.
Thanks for the compliments on the cake. I worked long and hard on that hunk of chocolate!
Wow, that’s a LOT of baking! The cake looks GREAT, holy crap…you have more patience than I! And I feel the same about Smoothie Skittles, lol.
And ooh, ooh, I have a cake leveler! I also have a huge kit of tips for an icing thingie-ma-bobber and all kinds of other gadgets for cake decorating that I asked for for my birthday last year but have yet to use…
A real Elmo-fest!
I saw on “Good Eats” where Alton Brown made a cake levelling tool out of some wire or something purchased at the hardware store or something. I would have had to carve away at it till it was down to nothing!
Good job on the birthday party. I feel guilty now. My kid’s first birthday was cupcakes from Publix and 3 guests!
Lil C is growing up so fast! Btw, love the Elmo stuff…the cupcakes are so sweet…
You’re a talented baker! Love that cake! Looks like Lil C had a great birthday. Way to make it wonderful for your baby 🙂
Wow, the Elmo Cupcakes looks great ! Im glad ur little darlin is having such a blast there!
Your cake might be nicer than mine……..I SAID MIGHT! I’m not totally ready to give up the crown yet. LOL
Love the cookie idea though. After you said that to me about “C” cookies I had the damn “C is for cookie that’s good enough for me….cookie cookie cookie starts with Ceeeee” song in my head all day!
That cake was amazing! And what a great birthday she had!
