Melba Toast and “Dance Your Way to Hollywood”

I am that person who picks all the Melba toast out of a snack mix.  I blame it on my mom who during almost the entire time she was pregnant with me could eat nothing else but Melba toast.  I love using Melba toast as the base for a smoked salmon and chives appetizer (that I made up myself, thank you very much!) or to munch on with a salad.  Most recently, I dipped it in a veggie ranch dip…even my husband was chowing down on that!!

If you haven't had Melba toast in awhile (or ever??? really?), I encourage you to run out and grab a box.  I had no idea that there was more than one flavor-but there is!  We tried the Sea Salt and Spicy  3 Pepper. I preferred the Sea Salt, but my husband preferred the Spicy 3 Pepper.  You can check out some cool recipes for great summer entertaining here.

With summer on its way, we're all thinking about eating healthier and becoming more active.  The people at Old London Melba snacks are helping to get people focused on this.  They have launched the "Dance Your Way to Hollywood" sweepstakes.  You can enter to win a trip to Hollywood where you and a guest will get private dance lessons and tickets to watch a taping of a highly popular television show.  This is a four day, three night, all expenses paid trip including airfare and accommodations.  Can you feel you leg muscles toning up just reading that?

Kudos to the people at Melba for making a healthy snack and a cool sweepstakes.  You can enter to win until June 30th.  TKDDaughter gives Melba Toast and the Dance Your Way to Hollywood sweepstakes a:

Banquet Thanks a Million!

I work three jobs.  My days start at 5 A.M. and it ends most nights at midnight.  With just a short break in the afternoon to pick up my son and feed him dinner, time is tight.  Like most parents, I would prefer to make all of our dinners from the freshest materials and always from scratch, but that's just not possible.  So often, I have to turn to something fast and easy.

Banquet has been helping busy families out with dinner for 50 years now. During the last two weeks, with extra hours at work, I turned to Banquet to provide some balanced meals for my family.  A favorite frozen entree of mine has always been Salisbury Steak.  Now that I have a son, we can't pass up Chicken Nuggets, his favorite food! I'm so thankful to have an easy and tasty alternative for dinners!

As Banquet's way of saying thanks to all their loyal customers, they have launched their Banquet Thanks a Million Instant win game.  Look for the "Thanks a Million" logo on their frozen entrees which contains a game piece for prizes ranging from a Banquet coupon to $100,000!  I'd say that's a nice way to say thanks!

For giving me something less to think about at dinnertime and for giving me hope that I can get rid of one of my jobs by winning one of these prizes, TKDDaughter gives Banquet:

Nancy’s Appetizers + Giveaway

Every year, my husband and I host a cocktail party for our friends at Christmas time.  It's the one time each year that we get all of our friends together from all parts of our lives.  This year it will be even bigger as social networking with the past has become much easier.  When it started, we hosted around 50 people-now?  We're looking at close to 100.  In the past I have always supplied all of the food, but this year, with everyone scrimping, I have elicited some help…from Nancy.

Nancy who?  The Nancy of Nancy's Appetizers.  Nancy's has just about everything you would need to host a nice cocktail party without the fuss of phyllo pastry sheets and long hours of standing in the kitchen.  I tried the Three Cheese Spinach Stars.  They are a fabulous blend of Neufchatel, Feta, and Asiago cheeses.  YUM!  They will be perfect to pass around at our party!  I also plan on purchasing the Petite Quiches, the Seafood Crab Cakes, and the Cheese Souffles.  I'm a huge appetizer girl, so I can't wait to try them all!

I'm so glad to have found Nancy's Appetizers to make my holiday party so stress-free!  YOU can have the chance to try Nancy's, too.  Leave a comment between now and December 4th to have your name entered into a drawing for one coupon for a Nancy's appetizer.

For making the holidays so much easier for me, TKDDaughter gives Nancy's a

Wendy’s High School Heismann Program + GIVEAWAY!!

I teach high school, ninth-graders specifically.  I am amazed each year as more and more parents are stressed out about college when their children enter the ninth grade.  While I understand that every decision and choice in high school impacts the college application, it makes me a bit sad that children have so much stress so early.

Students today work hard.  They are over scheduled and still maintain good grade averages and help in their communities.  As a way of showcasing and congratulating these students who work so hard and achieve so much, Wendy's is continuing its eight year tradition of the Wendy's High School Heisman Program.  Here's how it works:

High school seniors who have a 3.0 average or higher, participate in a school-sponsored sport and contribute to their community can apply at www.WendysHeisman.com, or a high school educator, guidance counselor, or coach can nominate them. As a little reward, the first 41,100 applicants will receive a free Wendy's gift card in amounts ranging from $5 to $50. One male and one female from each high school will win the award and continue on in competition for state and national awards. Twelve national finalists will participate in Heisman Weekend festivities during an all-expenses-paid trip Dec. 11-13 to New York City. ESPN2 will feature all 12 national finalists during the Wendy's High School Heisman Awards Ceremony, which airs Dec. 13.  The Wendy's High School Heisman website will display the names of all applicants and individual school winners on October 22, 2009.

I encourage any parents or teachers to let the high school seniors in their lives know about this great opportunity.  And anyone who leaves a comment here will be entered into a drawing for a $20 Wendy's gift card-you can't beat that!

For encouraging kids to keep working hard, TKDDaughter gives the Wendy's High School Heisman Program a:
